Here's How We Make Our Batik Pareos and Sarongs. Page 1On this page we have prepared a selection of photos showing the batik handpainting process that we use for our sarongs and pareos. The first step is the appling of the wax to the material and as this is a secret process we have shown the finished waxed material as our first photo. The next step is the drying of the sarongs and pareos in the hot Bali sun. There are some great photos of the colourful sarongs contrasting the bland background of the factory. When the sarongs have dried they are then taken to the washing area where a "fix" is applied to the colours so that they will last for a long time. Next is the washing of the sarongs to take out the excess of the fixing fluid and any excess colour dye. The entire washing process is in several stages which includes a hot wask to remove the wax from the material. The hot wash photos are quite amazing as you will see. After the washing the sarongs are once more dried in the sun prior to being taken to the machining room where the edges are sewn, labels sewn, and the sarongs ironed and packaged prior to shipping. We hope that you enjoy the pictures and we will be adding more in due course and also some videos.
